Create a more stable ride for your tow vehicle and trailer with a weight distribution hitch. Adding spring bars to your towing system applies leverage, which transfers the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all the axles on both your tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in an even distribution of weight throughout. The result is a smooth, level ride, as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch.

Selecting a Weight Distribution System

The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. If the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If, on the other hand, the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.

To determine the proper weight rating for a weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then add to that the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements make up the tongue weight rating for a weight distribution system.

Video Transcript for Review of Blue Ox Weight Distribution Hitch - WD With Sway Control - BLU72XR

Hello, neighbor. Steven here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our Blue Ox Two-Point weight distribution with sway control with a six-hole shank in an underslung fashion, rated at 12,000 pounds gross towing weight and 600 pounds max tongue weight. So, both weight distribution hitch, basically evenly distributes the weight over the axles of the tow vehicle and trailer giving you stability and control. Now, it will also create a level ride for both the tow vehicle and the trailer. Now, this kit has built-in two-point sway control.

So, I'll throw an image up on the screen, so when those brackets and everything are fully assembled, they hang around the frame of your trailer. And then the spring bars, where the yellow arrow's pointing, that's where they're gonna be resting and sliding and that friction's gonna give you that sway control that you need. Now, there are no lift chains and stuff like that, you have to use like some brands out there have. So, it's gonna help eliminate unwanted movement and the round spring bars can flex appropriately for a more controlled even ride. You don't have to drill anything.

It's a simple clamp installation with all the nuts, bolts, and hardware that's included here. (inhales) Now, it is all powder-coated black steel as well in the construction of the product and it's very durable and corrosion-resistant. (inhales) Now, you do get the head assembly, the adjustable shank, the hitch ball that comes pre-torque down on here and everything, the spring bars, the sway control brackets, and the lift bar tool. So, this guy's gonna go up underneath the bars and you're gonna use it to push 'em up in place safely. (object knocking) So, keep in mind those spring bars when you have this installed, is gonna be under an immense amount of pressure.

So, make sure you follow the instructions correctly to stay safe. Now, as I mentioned, the shank here has six holes. That's gonna give you different options as far as heights and drops. Now, this does fit a two-by-two inch trailer hitch receiver that is rated for use with weight distribution systems. Now, you can use this on trailers with bottom-mounted couplers as well.

Now, when this system is completely put together, it's gonna give you a max rise of six and three-quarter inches. And the distance from the center of the ball to the lift bracket position is gonna be 28 inches. And the distance from the lift bracket position to the end of the spring bar is gonna be four inches. So, once again, folks, I'll throw an image up of this completely installed just so you get a better idea. That's gonna do it for our quick look at the Blue Ox two-point weight distribution. I'm Steven, thanks for watching!.
